Dear Hopewell Valley School Community:
As we approach the holiday season, I would like to thank you for your continued diligence in adhering to our screening guidelines. Your efforts have resulted in a significantly lower prevalence of COVID-19 in HVRSD versus the State, region, and many surrounding districts. With the recent increases in cases in our community, we are taking extra precautions to keep our schools safe. In collaboration with our local Department of Health, we have updated our screening questions to reflect the recent move to “Orange” as indicated on the New Jersey COVID-19 Activity Level Report. Please adhere to following guidelines:
Students and staff should stay home if:
They have tested positive (viral test) for COVID-19 or are awaiting test results (even if there has been a negative rapid test).
Someone in their household is being tested for COVID-19 due to illness or has COVID-like symptoms. All siblings in the household who attend HVRSD must stay home (they may return if that person’s test results are negative).
They are exhibiting any COVID-19 compatible symptoms.
They have been in contact with a person with COVID-19 or COVID-like symptoms in the past 14 days or have had potential exposure to a person with COVID-19.
They have travelled to an area with high levels of COVID-19 transmission in the past 14 days:

As you know, we have a planned, temporary, transition to full remote learning from November 25 - December 6. If students and staff travel out of state during those dates, they still must adhere to HVRSD’s 14-day travel policy when they return.
We appreciate your continued support and cooperation. I ask for your continued assistance by following the guidelines listed above and in remaining vigilant, but sensible, in your approach to dealing with this public health concern.
